THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA LAUNCHES PUBLIC RELATIONS WEB SITE
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - The University of Alabama’s Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations recently launched an online magazine by public relations students for public relations students and educators, Platform (www.platformmagazine.com).
“In line with the ideas of Web 2.0, Platform was designed by nine students as a resource and forum for public relations students and educators,” said Bruce Berger, professor and chair of the UA Advertising and Public Relations Department and director of The Plank Center. “They designed and developed all the content for the site to encourage connections among visitors and sources.”
The site, built by Birmingham Web developer Ryan Burnett of Burnett Communications (www.burnettcom.com), addresses topics in careers, leadership, ethics, tips, and toolbox. Features include articles, an AP style quiz, podcasts, a blog (also accessible by RSS feed) and video interviews with Betsy Plank, UA alumna and chair of The Plank Center.

The University of Alabama’s department of advertising and public relations selected Burnett Communications to develop The Plank Center web site.
Established in 2005 and named after public relations pioneer Betsy Plank, The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations seeks to bridge the gap between PR education and practice.
The web site will feature articles, podcasts, video, music, quizzes and a blog focusing on public relations.
